6 Halloween Paper Plate Designs
When you have little kids, every holiday is important. So to make the house festive - and find a craft to keep us busy - we created Halloween paper plate art. It takes a few steps, but it's a nice project that can eat up a few hours during a long day. And the ideas are endless! We were able to make 6 different designs no problem.
MATERIALS
- Paper plates
- Construction paper
- Sharpie marker
- Scissors
- Glue
- Paint (I like tempera paint cakes by Sax)
DIRECTIONS
- Paint paper plates different colors. Orange, green, black and spider webs for our designs.
- Cut out shapes for eyes, hats, noses, tails, ears, stems etc. to fit with your designs.
- Glue shapes onto paper plates (after they have dried). Add features like eyes and mouth with marker. Use pipecleaners for legs on the spiders and whiskers on the cats!
DETAILED DESIGNS
PUMPKINS
Paint plates orange. Draw black lines onto the orange paper plates (after they have dried). Cut out green stems and glue on top. Cut out eyes and mouth on the plate (or you can glue down shapes with construction paper if easier, in either yellow or black).
FRANKENSTEINS
Paint plates green. Cut out black hair, white eyes, green noses, and black plugs. Glue down all the pieces. Draw eyeballs onto the white eyes, a smile, frowning eyebrows, and maybe a scar or two!
WITCHES
Paint plates green. Cut out black hats, green noses, orange hair, and white eyes. Glue down all the pieces. Draw eyeballs onto the white eyes, warts on the nose, and a mouth!
BLACK CATS
Paint plates black. Cut out black ears and tail, pink nose, and white eyes. Glue down all the pieces. Draw eyeballs onto the white eyes and a mouth. Use black pipecleaners and press into the plate to create whiskers. Tape on the back to secure them.
SPIDERS
Paint the plates with spider web designs. Cut out purple bodies. Glue down the purple body onto the plates, Glue on googly eyes. Use black pipecleaners and press into the plate to create the legs. Tape on the back to secure them.
GHOSTS
Cut the paper plates into shapes of ghosts. Glue cotton balls onto the plate and let dry. Cut out black eyes and mouth shapes and glue on top of the cotton balls.
